Late-night eating and drinking

Late snacks and inuman sessions add up fast. Here is how to keep them in check.

Late-night eating and drinking

Eating late is not bad by itself — total calories matter most. But late-night eating is usually extra eating: instant noodles after work, chips while watching a show, pulutan with beer.

Why it adds up

  • A pack of instant noodles is about 500 kcal.
  • Sisig with three beers is easily 900 kcal or more.
  • When you are tired, it is harder to stop.

What helps

  • Eat a proper dinner with protein so you are not hungry at 11 pm.
  • Brush your teeth after dinner — it is a simple signal that eating is done.
  • If you really are hungry, choose fruit, a boiled egg or a cup of taho.
  • At inuman, alternate each drink with a glass of water and pick grilled pulutan over fried.
